Amanda Gorman is an American poet and activist. Her work focuses on issues of oppression, feminism, race, and marginalization in the African diaspora. Gorman was the first person to be named National Youth Poet Laureate.
She appeared on the cover of Vogue Magazine in a beautiful African dress by a black designer called Virgil Abloh. The Harvard graduate portrayed her root while she posed confidently.
On the designer’s Instagram page, he said that he took inspiration from a photo his Ghanian mom gave him of his grandmother Madem Hellen Dei Ashie.
Gorman was photographed for an additional cover where she’s seen in a totally different look including a Dior Haute Couture dress.
